Frequently Asked Questions about Sport Clubs at UCF
How do I join a Sport Club?
Any UCF student who is currently enrolled in class and paying the Activity and Service Fee may join a Sport Club. Students can go to individual sport club meetings or practices, contact an office of the Sport Club or the Recreation and Wellness Center to find out more details on the club(s) of interest.
Do I have to have experience to join a Sport Club?
No, experience is not required, but suggested for many of the clubs. Clubs that are competing at the national level may have two levels of teams based on skill level and playing ability.
How much does joining a Sport Club cost?
Club dues range from $0 per semester to $1000 per semester depending on the needs of the club. Most clubs that travel to competitions and in leagues that require dues, also charge their club members dues. There are also other costs that students may incur as a member of a sport club.
Where do Sport Clubs practice?
Sport Clubs practice in different locations depending on the nature of the Sport. Check the Sport Club website at www.sportclubs.ucf.edu/schedule.htm for a current list of practice times and locations.
How can I start a new Sport Club?
Students may form new clubs at any time during the year. There are specific steps and guidelines that clubs must follow through the Office of Student Involvement before applying to be part of the Sport Club Council. To start a club, students should visit www.getinvolveducf.org. After a club has been approved they can apply to be part of the Sport Club Council. All steps and forms are located at www.sportclubs.ucf.edu.
Can I play Intramural Sports and on a Sport Club?
From the IM Captain’s Guide - Members of varsity, sports club, or professional teams are not eligible to participate in their sport or related intramural sport. A sports club team member is defined as anyone participating in one or more scheduled intercollegiate contests during the current school year. Sports clubs are defined as registered organizations through the Office of Student Involvement that participate in intercollegiate competitions and are good standing members of the Sports Club Council. The player’s ineligibility for that Intramural sport shall be in effect until July 15th.
What is the Sport Club Council?
The Sport Club Council (SCC) is an agency of SGA comprised of 37 sport related clubs that are currently registered Student Organizations with the Office of Student Involvement. The agency shall assist student leaders and their respective sport clubs in their operations. The SCC works towards the progress and advancement of the sport club program at UCF, while representing all registered sport clubs in the best interest of the program.
